San Dimas, Calif. - Life Pacific College continued its home court dominance as they defeated La Sierra University in three straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-22). LPC has now won 10 matches in a row. La Sierra put up a great fight against the Warriors, but Life Pacific's ability to close sets proved to be too much for the Eagles.
In the first set, both teams fought back and forth as the lead changed many times. Following a timeout by La Sierra, freshman Jordin Bishop came up with two back to back kills to put LPC up 21-17.
Then, La Sierra stormed back to bring the score to 22-20. After an amazing rally between both teams, Bishop delivered a kill that sent the LPC crowd into a frenzy.
La Sierra was forced to call a timeout with the score being 23-20 in favor of Life Pacific. Senior Jasmine Broad followed the timeout with two monstrous kills that finished the match 25-20
LPC struggled to find a rhythm for the majority of the second set. The Warriors were down by three points at multiple times throughout the set (9-12, 12-15, 14-17).
Late in the set, a huge kill and a block by Mariah Durant on consecutive plays brought the score to 16-17.
After trading points between the two teams, LPC was able to close the match on a 7-2 run, sparked by a kill by Leticia Burlet.
The third set was a closely fought battle just like the first two sets. With the score at 20-19, Jordin Bishop extended the lead by landing a crucial kill to put LPC up 21-19.
La Sierra was unable to find a way to overcome the deficit as LPC won the final set 25-22.
Life Pacific will attempt to win its 11th match in a row in a rematch against West Coast Baptist at 7:00 pm on 9/29/17.
