Lancaster, Calif. - Life Pacific College extended their win streak to five games after a five set battle with Antelope Valley University (25-22,23-25,25-23,13-25,15-13). The Warriors have been able to show their resilience by winning multiple five set matches this year.
The majority of the first set was controlled by the Warriors. However, the second set did not start off well for LPC. They fell into a 6-1 hole early which eventually led to a 25-22 loss.
The third set was a back and forth battle that would result in a 25-23 victory for LPC.
UAV was able to force a fifth set, due to LPC struggling to find a rhythm in the fourth set. The 5th set was close at the side change with UAV up 8-6. UAV rattled off 3 straight points and it looked bad for Life as they were down 11-6. Then, there was a scramble at the net after a UAV block, Leticia Burlet (JR/Rio de Janeiro) kick saved a ball that was going down over the net and saved the point. The rally ended with LPC forcing UAV to commit an error. The next point, Jordin Bishop (FR/Chino Hills, CA) dove to save a ball with one hand that successfully went back over the net. After Jordin's amazing effort, the Warriors won that rally as well. Those 2 plays took the wind out of the Pioneer's sails, as LPC went on a 9-2 run to win the match 15-13 in the 5th set.
Life Pacific will look to win their sixth match in a row as they face off against California Institute of Technology at home 9/15 at 7:00 p.m. Livestream will be available at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/lifepacific/
